About Me

My photo
I am Sarah, a stay at home mom of two wonderful, little boys. In my life before kids I was a fifth grade teacher. I now work with first year teachers, which I love. Creating is one of the ways I stay sane. I become very cranky if I have not stamped or scrapped in a while. Join me on this creative journey.

Stamp Something New

Happy Saturday! My Mom is coming to visit for a week tomorrow from Massachusetts. Reid is really looking forward to the visit since the last time we saw her was Thanksgiving and everyone was very sick. I made this creation (for lack of a better term) for the Stamp Something Challenge this week. You had to make something new. It could be using new product or a new technique or pretty much anything new to you. I went out on a limb here and used Reid's new school pictures this year and I used an "old" product that was "new" to me. When I was cleaning I came across a SU kit that had these cool envelopes that I had never used. I covered them with designer paper from 7 gypsies. I stamped the for you stamp from the Say it with Scallops set and adhered it to a piece of Riding Hood Red and Brushed Silver. I used silver cord and a do hickey from the hodgepodge hardware. For the picture I adhered it to Glossy White and then a blue that could be Handsome Hunter (I told you about my color problem) I stamped the hearts using Riding Hood Red. On the back of the blue I put a magnet so she can put the picture on the refrigerator. The picture fits perfectly inside the envelope.
This afternoon I am going to a very cool stamp store called The Queen's Ink. I am itching to try out something new. (see I have new on the brain) Don't get me wrong I love SU but I am getting a little (I hate to say it) I don't know if bored is the right term. I don't know what it is actually I just need a little change. Bear with me, while I figure it out. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by.

All Supplies Stampin' Up except the designer paper.

Sarah, I feel the same way. I love SU too but I also feel to keep inspiration and interest alive, you need to branch out and stamp other brands. I think this makes you look at the SU stamps in a different light and maybe use them more creatively than you otherwise would have. (sorry bit complicated there)
Enjoy your shopping trip.

Sarah - please keep us updated on your change if you make one. The envelope and frame you made are so different and really do like them. I haven't been a SU consultant, but can imagine how using one product could make inspirations a little challenging at times. I hope you enjoy your shopping trip - let us know how it goes
